Bar beginning barlines :
Piece start barline
shows the first bar to be played. Usually, only one piece start barline
can be included in a single score. If several of them are inserted, only
the first one is taken into account.
Repeat start barline
shows the next bars have to be repeated several times. Repeat number is
specified by the matching repeat end barline.
Other barlines at the beginning of a bar
(double, dotted, bold or invisible barline) have no actual action on how
the piece is played.
For each of these barlines at the beginning of
a bar, you can select, in the editing window (double-click on barline with
"lasso" tool) :
-
Bar number this barline is inserted in
-
Text to be displayed on score above the barline

time or key signature
-

location usually reserved to the notes in this bar
