How to install the software on an USB flash
drive
or other removable device
|
Why installing the software on a flash drive?
|
|
When installed on a flash drive, the software will work
without any effect on the computer that hosts the device.
It can be helpful, for instance, if you wish to work on a computer
shared between several people, or work on several computers.
Implementation on Macintosh
|
|
Insert your flash drive and ensure that there is enough free space :
100 MB
Run the installer and click the "Choose" button related
to "Folder the application will be installed into:".
Select your flash drive.
Activate "Install as a roaming application"
Click "Install". The software installs, it can take a
few minutes.
Run the software to finalize the install: creation of
sound bases, of the "Myriad Documents" folder at the same level as the
application, etc. This can take several minutes, but should be faster
the next time you run the application.
Implementation on Windows
|
|
Insert your flash drive and ensure that there is enough free space :
100 MB.
In the third panel of the installer, click "Browse" in the "Target
folder" section, and select your flash drive.
Select "Setup type: Custom (for experienced users).
Click "Next >".
In the following panel, click "Roaming install" then click "Next >"
and complete the install.
The software installs, it can take a few minutes.
Run the software to finalize the install: creation of
sound bases, of
the "Myriad Documents" folder at the same level as the application,
etc. This can take several minutes, but should be faster the next time
you run the application.
Please note that for better performances, it is
recommended to format your flash drive in NTFS mode, assuming that the
computers on which you plan to use the software support this format.
Otherwise, FAT format is recommended for a better compatibility.
Installing a sound base
|
|
To use another sound base than the one installed by default with the
software, download its installer from the Website
then install the base on the flash drive, preferably in a new folder
created for this purpose.
In the software, open the global setup ("Configuration"
menu). In the "Paths" section, select the new path to the sound base.
Tips
|
|
If you create score files, remember to save them on the flash drive, in
a folder created for this purpose.
If you do not own a flash drive, you can use instead a digital camera,
an MP3 player or any other external device that supports file writing.
If you lose your flash drive, please report it quickly to
sylvie@myriad-online.com so that your personal registration number
could be blacklisted in order to prevent any fraudulous use.
