The Sound Databases

What is it ?

While music is playing on digital output, Harmony or Melody
Assistant computes the resulting sound in real-time, by using sound samples for each
instrument. These sound samples are packed in a file called digital
sound database.
There are several versions of the digital sound database. The
better quality, the larger file:
- The lightest one
(lowest quality) called GMMPBase, is included in the packages
provided on the Web (Harmony Assistant, Melody Assistant and Melody
Player) and installed with it.
- The low quality sound
database, called GMWEBase can be downloaded here. The
installer searches for an already installed product, and asks you
for the folder to be copied into.
- The medium quality sound
database, called GMSEBase, is available on the Myriad
CD-ROM and is automatically installed with the packages provided on
it (Harmony Assistant, Melody Assistant and Melody Player). You can

It can also be downloaded on this page.
- The high quality GOLD
database provides the best sounds. This database is only
available on CD-ROM. Its price is US$37 or 30 euros. More info and

How to know which version is already installed?

Open the information window about the software (?>About... on
Windows, Apple>About... on Macintosh).
If you read:
- GMMPBase.rsr then you are using the light version
- GMWEBase.rsr then you are using the low quality version
(provided on this page)
- GMSEBase.rsr then you are using the medium quality
database.
- Gold.sdb then you are using the High Quality database only
available on the GOLD
CD-ROM.
if you read GMLTBase, GMSTBase or GMXTBase, then you're using the
old versions of the sound database. We invite you to upgrade your
version first.
