words run together or are separate in mxl export

Hi
My word directions (ex. "bari sax" or "play twice then rest" etc etc) either come out as single words, and not phrases in the mxl, (ex, if you click on "bari sax" you can only select EITHER "bari' or "sax" but not the entire phrase. "bari sax") OR after I changed settings in the expert mode, they come out now as ONE huge word, like "playtwicethenrest"
How do I get this to be correct, and have my phrases look correct with the correct spacing between the words BUT have it so that when I transfer it to Sibelius it is ONE clickable phrase? I have to keep typing all my directions over again in Sibelius and it's taking a lot of time.

ok here's a sample :look in section D, "ad lib rhythms - in this example, each word in the phrase is separate. I want to export this ENTIRE phrase as one clickable phrase. If I adjust the settings, it exports as one phras, yes, but as ONE WORD with no spaces between the three words. I can seem to get the settings right.

In expert mode, Characters panel, you can set the Maximal Horizontal distance do .31, you will get one word but without space.

hello
OK I did this, and sorry, this does not work correctly for me. see example.
now "ad lib rhythms" is ONE word. Click on it and you will see.
I want it to be THREE separate words BUT ONE clickable phrase.

On provide sample, Expert mode, Paragraphs panel,
increase "Max horiz distance for merging text" (for example 1.49)
decrease "Max horiz distance for adding a space" (for example 0.20)
If a text block is processed as direction, mute it to "Free text"

thank you. I tried this, but it did not help.
first, the default value for "Max horiz distance for merging text" is already 1,50 so I'm not sure moving it to 1.49 helps any.
second, I changed some text to "free text" but it made no difference. And, this brings up another question: if you can eventually solve this problem but it will require changing all the text to free text that adds as much work as the original problem, unless you can tell me how to GLOBALLY change ALL the text in the document to free text. at the moment, I have to shift-click every word! At this point, I might as well just export all the words together and put spaces in every one. that's just as much work.
So sorry, still no solution that works for me, and even if it did work, it's just the same as the original problem. I'd like it to simply export the text perfectly.

Try greater values, like 3.0.
Don't forget the second parameter.

I only did exactly what you told me--changed the 2 values in the character tab, changed to "free" text - I did not change the default concatenation.
your last reply only shows me code by the way, like this:
