Hello,

I think I know the answer but is OMer still under development or do you go the way with PDFMusic?

I already have PDFMusic but I find OMer really good.

Omer is supposed to build scores from a scanned copy, whereas PDFtoMusic addresses pdf scores produced by a music notation program, i.e. where notes are represented internally by characters in some musical font(s).
Personally I use PDFtoMusic extensively, but I have never been able to use Omer successfully with any scanned score. It tells me constantly that the score is not recognizable.
Happy that you were more lucky than I have been so far!
Can you tell me which sort of scanned score you have been able to read?

Hello,

I can simple scores. Most of them more out of the rock/pop and folk genre. I'm hobbyist (no professional).

I use song books that you can buy at amazon or local book stores.

The goal is to create a input file for Band-In-A-Box. This helps me to play without a band. But editing lyrics is much better in Harmony assistant.

My workaround now is with capella-scan (reduced version) then I use the PDF that was created with capella + FreePDF and re-read it in PDFtoMusic.

This works great but with OMer that workflow would be much easier.

As scan format I use: 1-Bit color (black/white) and 200 dpi. That works for me.

Best regards

OK
I understand that you start from brand new scores. Most of the time, the scores I want to use are 20, 50, sometimes 80 years old. The paper has become yellow and full of small stains, which make it difficult for Omer to read them.

Try scanning with really black/white. Then try the dust removal and set a treshold. That should give you more results.

Capella-scan has no problem with that - but the price is more for professional usage (not for me ). OMer has a good price but I think it is not under active development (last update 200. But for easy song lines the price I think is ok.

In 2009 there was a ScanTiMusic project, quite well advanced, but the Guillion brothers semm to have given up, I don't remember why.

Even with a perfect scan Omer does not give a good result.
And I now get funny characters when analysing.
