OMER additional staves generated

Hi, I have a three page piano/vocal song that I've processed thru OMER and everything is fine except it continues to generate extra staves in the .msf file. How do I stop the generation of these extra staves? The song is five well-defined and proecessed pages, but the .msf file when brought up in Harm. Assist. is 16 pages because of the extra and unused staves. I'm using Windows XP home and a Samsung scanner on a multi-function printer model CLX 3160FN. The scanning doesn't seem to be where the extra staves are processed as the .isf pages from OMER are fine. Thanks, Jondemii

Now, remember this : one voic=one staff for the whole score. Now, let's imagine that the first line of the first page contains 3 lines and the rest of the page has only two lines (a voice has nothing but rests). HA will print this empty staff. Yet, you can have it hidden away through Score>PageMode Setup + "hide empty staves" You can also delete these unused staves after checking they are actually empty...

| Thanks for the reply. How do I determine that a stave is "actually empty"? There is nothing on the staves except the lines, key signature and time signature. No music notation at all. How do I make the stave "actually empty", if you don't mind taking a moment to pass that good info. on to me. I've just "OMered" another file and had the same thing happen. Thanks again, Jondemii

If you select 'delete empty staves' and they disappear; they were empty. Those that remain will have something in them.

| Now, something else : a time or key change may be considered as a symbol that makes the staff "not empty". Anyway, try Bampah's suggestion (Staves>Delete emprty staves) and if there's still an empty staff left and you feel that it is empty (no note, rest, etc.), you can simply delete it by using the "blue lightning" (erase) tool and clicking in its left margin.

One other thing to beware of with the empty stave thing and hiding key signature changes is that when that stave appears again, it will still be in the key signature that was there before the hidden change. Hiding it means that it is ignored. You must then insert another key sig change for that stave which is somewhat of a pain. If you're having trouble hiding empty staves, also check out the lyrics to make sure that there are no accidental spaces or carriage returns. Another tip for finding the non-blank bit of a score is to use the Ctrl-T view and force an end of line. Splitting the blank stave should let you know where the bit is that isn't blank a bit quicker.
