How to make a Grand Pause "play"

I'm trying to make a score play as I want it to sound, but the "Grand Pause" seems to have no effect on playback. I want a clean break across all staves for the duration of an eighth-note. Since it follows a fermata on all staves, I've shortened the pressure time and lengthened the value of the fermata, which gets me a little break, but requires a lot of work. In the past, I've inserted an invisible time signature change and invisible rests, but that kind of forces you to a duration of one beat. It just seems like there must be a better way.

Thanks, everyone!

Have you tried this script ?
Scripts>Notation>Notes>Apply pauses...
You have a choice of "big" or "small" pause along with the symbol //.

I completely missed that one. I looked all through some of the other menus, but didn't consider "notes". Thanks!
