Help please for a non-musician who is having great fun and much success with Harmony!

How can I play bars 1 - 10, repeat once, play bars 11 - 20 once, play bars 1 - 10 again and repeat once as before, play bars 11 - 20?

Thanks

If you are mainly interested in the audio result, the best way is to do Score>Edit Breaks and enter the list of bars you want to be played in the "played bar numbers" box. (1-10,1-10,11-20,1-10,1-10,11-20). Don't forget to check the "impose list" checkbox.

Thanks but I need the score to indicate it, as the song will be performed. Any suggestions?

So, you will have to place the repeat marks...
I suggest an repeat ending at bar #10 (you don't really need a repeat beginning at bar #1). Then, you could add a D.C. mark at bar #21, edit the sign and add "with repeats" in the text input box, as normally the repeats are not played with D.C. Still, if you want the music to be played as you indicated in your first post, go to the Edit Breaks window and force the list.

Thank you all! I did not realise I need to use Edit Breaks as well as the instruction signs. I will work on this and report back with my results.

More help please! I have two verses of lyrics in bars 1 - 10. The first verse is sung, then bars 1 - 10 repeat with the second verse sung. Bars 11 - 20 are played once, then it returns to bar 1 for a second time to sing verses 1 and 2 as a second repeat of bars 1 - 10.

It works fine first time round but on the second, verse 2 is sung twice instead of 1 then 2 as before.

Any suggestions for making the second time sing verse 1 then 2 and not verse 2 twice?

It's easy.  Select the bars with the lyrics to be hidden.  Position the cursor on one of the lines you want to hide, and right-click.  On the pop-up menu, select the option to hide the line.  Repeat as necessary.  Those lyric lines will be hidden for the selected measures.  You would re-display the lines in a similar fashion.

It is also possible to use that pop-up menu to insert a blank line above the line in which the cursor is positioned.  I use it for hymns and songs with a repeated refrain (i.e., I only enter them for the first verse), to position the refrain lyrics in the middle of the lyrics space.

Another use:  if the song has a lot of verses, you can leave the first four or so showing and display the hidden ones in a free-text box at the end of the score, in the manner of old-fashioned hymnals and songbooks.
