Why is it that I can tie a note (2), then untie it (3) but then get a thin beam?

It seems necessary to first un-beam the black notes, then un-tie the half-note, then re-beam the black notes.

What is the meaning of a beam on a half-note?

(2) I thought that switching to Ribbon Mode was all that was required to select a "difficult-to-select" tempo, but not in this case. I cannot even select the rest in the first bar.

Any ideas, anyone?

Thanks

Whitout ANY problem, you can replace your ties by similar slurs, entirely redimensionable

Ties never work fine in all cases...

Yes, thank you Chris

You are not the only one to say that.
I need the disipline to use slurs; if only they were so quick and convenient to use as ties.

A conversion script perhaps?
