When I insert a different clef into a stave (not at the start of a bar) the first notes in all staves (even those not affected by the new clef) in the next bar position themselves upon the vertical bar line insted of being spaced slightly to the right of the line. Please advise how I can stop this from happening.

| I'm not sure, but I should say that the left margins are probably set to 0. So, you can easily get things straight by selection all these bars and right click. In the edit window, only keep "left margin" checked, and uncheck the other boxes (size and right margin). Then ou can set the right margin to, say, 10 points. The change will ba applied to all the selected bars.

Thanks bubu42, I'm unable to right-click (I have a Mac) and there doesn't seem to be anything in the Edit window about margins nor about the boxes you mention (at least not that I've found). I discovered, however, that I can move the small red triangle at the top left edge of the bar away from the bar line to space the notes more accurately, & I didn't have to select the bar to do so. But I'd like to know how I can find the Edit section you mention. I have MA 7.1.3 and OS X 10.3.9. Thanks.

The window he mentions I found. First display ruler would be active. At top of screen > options > display ruler. Now click on display ruler and the staffs in the measure or bar of all staffs are highlighted green, right click or command-click the bar and select "Change bar widths" now your at the window, it has three sliders. In documentation and sometimes in the help window I see, (Command-Click) Macintosh or (Right-click) PC so for Mac hold keyboard command key down and then click.

| Sorry, as a dumb windows user, I forgot to mention that right click was the same as command-click for apple eaters... | As KHZ_Robert has given you the right tip, I would like to mention that once you've selected several bars in the display ruler, moving one little triangle will change the margins in all the selected bars. The "command-click" function is very helpful when you cannot get hold of the triangle (zoom level too low, for example).
