Q:Getting midi thru sound louder, dif instrument?

Hello,

I have the newest version of HA a very recent win xp pentium machine, a midi system that in other programs works flawlessly etc.

In HA the midi thru sound when I play notes of keyboard in real time sound dramatically quieter than the output of the playback sounds.

This is so extreme it almost makes the situation unusable?

How can I change the midi thru instrument sound, put it on another instrument, see its volume etc.  I tried the "relate Instruments" command but it didn't show any instruments outside of the staves in the score?

Thank you,
Muogin

What kind of MIDI device are you using?
An external MIDI synthesizer, or the internal MIDI capability of your sound card.
In the second case, did you adjust the volumes for digital (WAV) output and for MIDI output in the Windows' mixer ?

Hello Olivier,

I am using the M-Audio Audiophile 2496 card on a hi powered Win XP pentium machine.

All my sound is coming from the computers HA's softsynth.

I have even tried running another soft synth app in the background (propellerheads reason) and wanted to crank up its volume to max but it doesn't seem to even allow me to run the audio for both apps at the same time?

THanks,
Muogin

No, it does not. The MIDI echo does not use the HA's softsynth, but a MIDI output.

It should on Windows XP with a recent version of the audio drivers.

Did you try to open the Windows audio mixer and set the volumes up ?

THanks,

Hello Olivier,

I came up with a workaround that will work just fine.

A freeware app called "MidiYoke", I choose its virtual route in HA then boot up Reason and have reason recieve its midi from MIdiYoke. I can then crank up Reasons piano as loud as I want.

Thank you,
Also the program is great!
