Goldbase 2 won't install on Windows 7

I cannot install the Goldbase 2 (2005) CD on Windows 7. The installer starts up OK, but there is a sort of buzzing noise coming from the CD drive. When the progress bar reaches 37%, the buzzing noise stops, but the bar progress bar stops too. I waited a few minutes and then ejected the CD.

I tried this on a different computer running Windows 7 and got the same result, except that the progress bar reached 64% before stopping.

Any help with this would be much appreciated.

I can only say that I have Windows 7 and my t Gold Base II works. What is your version of Windows 7. Have you tried installing GBII as administrator?

Thank you for your response.

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium on both systems. I keep both systems up to date with Windows Update. One system is a new HP Laptop, the other is an Acer laptop which is about a year old. I want to use Goldbase only on the new HP laptop.

I am using an Administrator account on both systems as well.

I purchased the Goldbase CD in 2005, but since then have moved on to new computers twice. It installed fine on a Windows XP laptop, which I purchased a few years ago, but the hard drive on that laptop crashed. Is there any chance of getting a new image online somehow? Perhaps downloading it.

No problems with Gold 2 and windows 7 home premium on my side. Did you check if your cd-drive is ok? If it is you should send an E-mail to sylvie@myriad-online.com and ask if there is a way to solve your problem.

best regards

I'm afraid you have a hardware problem (the sound while reading the CD)

No problem on my W7 64bit
I copied the directories from my old XP, didn't installed anything, and it works

It's not about using an Administrator account. Running as administrator does something else than just running normally while on an administrator account. So, right-click the GoldBaseInstall.exe (or whatever it is called), and from the drop down menu that appears, click "Run as Administrator".
I'm not saying that it will solve the problem, but it worked for me once.

I hope this helps.
