What do you mean with a transparent background? Which element on the page should have a transparent background?

What can be the purpose of a transparent background for the whole page? What is supposed to be seen behind that transparent background? Do you have an example of a web site or web page that uses what you call a transparent background?

I'm working on a new website, and so far nothing is online.
The reason? All content coming on the site, is on top of the background, and always in sight under the content. It's a litte difficult to explain ... sorry
