For all "WANTED" languages, we need some demos and pronounciation details.
For all languages included HA script, I think Myriad should put a mp3 demo on VS page (http://www.myriad-online.com/en/products/virtualsinger.htm).
I posted some demos on my MUSL (http://sylvain_machefert.myriad-users.com/index.html) page

You want a new language in VS ?
The documentation (http://www.myriad-online.com/en/scriptdocs/otherlanguages.htm) explains how to create a new language file.
If it seems soooo complicated for you. We can help you. For that :
  • Start a new topic
  • Give us a chart with pronounciation equivalent of each letters, diphtongues and triphtongues... in a "known" language : e.g. english a in about, turkish i dotless, french r not rolled...
  • Give us some demos, midi karaokes or .myr with lyrics, and if possible a mp3/youtube link where we can here the same tune sung by a real person

    Bonjour Sylvain

    Merci.

    Hello!

I have created a SAMPA file for Catalan, which I attach. However, I am trying (and failing) to create a new language file. The trouble is I cannot find enough information about the definitions of the languages. From the examples given, I assume that we use the existing built-in languages as the basis (French, English, German, Spanish, etc.). From the examples I can see that "AFI" is "A Finnish" (but why not "AF" Italian?), so "FI" means Finnish, F (presumably) is French and apparently leaving out the language letter defaults to English (which sort?). I have looked through the work that people have done on Portuguese, Czech and Esperanto, but these use many things that I do not understand and are not described in the manual. Can you point me at a complete set of syntax definitions?

As a simple example of a Catalan word, "rebuig" (which appropriately means "rubbish"!) you can analyse it as follows:
    r=r Spanish, as in "ruedo"
    e=schwa English, as in "the"
    b=b Spanish, as in "dibujo"
    u=u Spanish, as in "puro"
ig=j English or dg English, as in "jump" or "badge"

I have another question, too. Catalan vowels change depending on whether they are stressed or not. Is there any way of catering for that?

    Thanks in advance,

    Simon

Well, I have now done quite a bit more work on Catalan, but my SAMPA efforts have not been rewarded. It seems that the existing VS facilities for SAMPA in any language are not complete. So for example if you have a trilled r (r in SAMPA) followed by a schwa vowel (@ in SAMPA) it never sounds right. Spanish and italian have SAMPA r but no @ and French and English have SAMPA @ but no r. I also find that the input of lyrics that include SAMPA is cumbersome and produces inaccurate results. For anyone else who wishes to have a try, I attach a pdf of the lyrics with embedded SAMPA and a pdf of the score (partitura). Do let me know if you have more success!

Title: Re: Languages in VS [summary]
Post by Lagaffe on Oct 12th, 2015, 8:42am

This is perhaps relevant to this topic, but if I need to post it elsewhere, let me know.  I'm using HA v9.7.1c, which I think is the most recent version, and I didn't see Russian in there.
Is there some way to download a file that will add the Russian language to my setup?

But my director is having our choir sing Duh Tvoy blagiy, so I've been trying to get the approximate pronunciation in there using SAMPA.  The challenge is this aspiration sound at the end of Duh, and blagiy.

As you can see, I'm not using their cyrillic letters.  It's sort of similar to the unvoiced velar fricative used in the German word "ich".  I looked at the fragments for German, as they seemed pretty complete.  I tried changing my singers to Germans and entering Duh[#+D+UFR+GSH] but what I heard was "choir aahs", about as if I hadn't entered any lyrics at all.  Is it not possible to enter fragments in this fashion?

Title: Re: Languages in VS [summary]
    Post by bubu42 on Feb 13th, 2017, 3:50am
If you heard 'aahh' only, that means that VS could not interpret the chain entered between brackets... Try getting rid of the "+" signs and through trial and error enter one letter/sign at a time. (For example [#dU], then [#dUh], etc.) There are tables of SAMPA equivalents in the manual.
From what I heard on the Web, [#Deer] sounds like it with  British English.
Another hint : have you tried Scripts>Virtual Singer>Other languages ?

    Bonjour,
Question à Lagaffe: j'ai écouté votre partition "Kto_bog_velii" qui est écrite, semble-t-il, en Russe.

Post by Lagaffe on Oct 23rd, 2017, 1:13pm
