French "v"

My first use of Virtual Singer in Harmony Assistant has been going well so far. One problem I'm having is getting a French "v" to sound OK. It seems to sound more like a French "j", which stands out as wrong. Retyping in SAMPA doesn't seem to help. So far my best workaround is to use an f in brackets instead (e.g. vo[fo]) - the error is less severe that way.  It seems to happen more with "vo" and "voi" than with other vowels; "va" seems fine.

This is with Virtual Singer 3.2 and HA 9.5.1e. It seems to happen with both North and South French. Any suggestions for better workarounds? Thanks!

Michael
