For all "WANTED" languages, we need some demos and pronounciation details. For all languages included HA script, I think Myriad should put a mp3 demo on VS page. I posted some demos on my MUSL page You want a new language in VS ? The documentation explains how to create a new language file. If it seems soooo complicated for you. We can help you. For that : - Start a new topic
- Give us a chart with pronounciation equivalent of each letters, diphtongues and triphtongues... in a "known" language : e.g. english a in about, turkish i dotless, french r not rolled...
- Give us some demos, midi karaokes or .myr with lyrics, and if possible a mp3/youtube link where we can here the same tune sung by a real person

Bonjour Sylvain Pourriez-vous ajouter le slavon à votre liste ? Il parait que ça ressemble au Russe mais pas tout à fait. Merci.

Hello! I have created a SAMPA file for Catalan, which I attach. However, I am trying (and failing) to create a new language file. The trouble is I cannot find enough information about the definitions of the languages. From the examples given, I assume that we use the existing built-in languages as the basis (French, English, German, Spanish, etc.). From the examples I can see that "AFI" is "A Finnish" (but why not "AF" Italian?), so "FI" means Finnish, F (presumably) is French and apparently leaving out the language letter defaults to English (which sort?). I have looked through the work that people have done on Portuguese, Czech and Esperanto, but these use many things that I do not understand and are not described in the manual. Can you point me at a complete set of syntax definitions? As a simple example of a Catalan word, "rebuig" (which appropriately means "rubbish"!) you can analyse it as follows: r=r Spanish, as in "ruedo" e=schwa English, as in "the" b=b Spanish, as in "dibujo" u=u Spanish, as in "puro" ig=j English or dg English, as in "jump" or "badge" I have another question, too. Catalan vowels change depending on whether they are stressed or not. Is there any way of catering for that? Thanks in advance, Simon

Well, I have now done quite a bit more work on Catalan, but my SAMPA efforts have not been rewarded. It seems that the existing VS facilities for SAMPA in any language are not complete. So for example if you have a trilled r (r in SAMPA) followed by a schwa vowel (@ in SAMPA) it never sounds right. Spanish and italian have SAMPA r but no @ and French and English have SAMPA @ but no r. I also find that the input of lyrics that include SAMPA is cumbersome and produces inaccurate results. For anyone else who wishes to have a try, I attach a pdf of the lyrics with embedded SAMPA and a pdf of the score (partitura). Do let me know if you have more success!
