Are you an user of Harmony Assistant? I suppose that yes if you post here. So, you can use Harmony with Goldbase2 that is a good sound base that include orchestral instruments, plus lot of others.
If you are looking for something more specialized, the Garritan Personal Orchestra is probably the best option, that can be played from Harmony Assistant.

Hi

You can listen to a lot lot lot of songs made with Harmony or Melody if you install the myriad-plugin on your computer. With this plugin you can listen to all the songs that you find here:

I suppose DimebagPlan prefer MP3 demos, because he hasn't yet the Gold base. look at the pages of this forum, there are sometimes demos posted by users.

Sylvain, your CPE Bach jazz version is superb !

You can also listen to these pieces:
    - a organ prelude on "Valet will ich dir geben"
    - a (dark) symphonic piece (with a non-HA reverberation)
    - a short piece with ethnic percussions

Nope. I just wish more metal heads would listen to more baroque and classic. Metal could offer a whole lot more than just the Cookie Monster, Ethel Merman and dropped D.
The world suffered a loss when the Dime was taken. Not many realize that.

Forgive me if I am a little late to the party here but I would like to contribute some sample mp3 files rendered with the Gold 2 samples.  I couldn't get it together at the time of the original post because I had to reinstall Windows twice in the last few weeks and in the confusion, lost all of my sound samples and my custom Virtual Singer voices as well as many programs.  My back up strategy seems a bit deficient. I am only now reinstalling programs and putting my system back into working order. I might be a bit slow but even the cold blooded tortoise has a four chambered heart.

Here is the Adagio from Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 8 rendered seven times with different voices from the Gold 2 sound base.
The first file is a "reference" piano version.
    Piano:
    Grand Piano 2
    HTTP://webs.lanset.com/jow/PaGP2.mp3

The next file is with Didier Roche's cathedral organ voices.  In my opinion this set of 46 voices alone is worth the small cost of the Gold 2 disk.  Even if you don't intend to render "organ music" the broad range of voices with so many subtle variations can be well used in any mix.
    Organ:
    Swell-Prestant 4'
    Swell-Hautbois 8'
    Swell-Montre 8'
    Ped-Cor de nuit 2'
    Ped-Clarion 4'
    Ped-Bombarde 16'

    A mix:
    Overdrive Guitar (Guitar)
    60's strings (Ensemble)
    Natural Oboe 2 (Reed)
    Cello 2 (String & Orchestra)
    Tuba (Brass)
    Contrabass (String & Orchestra)

    Reed:
    Natural Tenor Sax 2
    Natural Clarinet 2
    Xaphoon
    Natural Clarinet
    Natural French Bassoon
    Natural Bass Clarinet
    HTTP://webs.lanset.com/jow/PaR.mp3

    Brass:
    Natural Trumpet
    Euphonium
    Trombone
    Tuba
    HTTP://webs.lanset.com/jow/PaB.mp3

    String & Orchestra
    Natural Violin 2
    Cello 2
    Contrabass
    HTTP://webs.lanset.com/jow/PaS.mp3

Just for laughs - Pads and Effects:
    Metal Fantasia (Synth Pad)
    Fantasmosphere (Synth Pad)
    Orchestral Atmosphere (Synth Effects)
    Echo Drops (Synth Effects)
    Ped-Bourdon 8' (organ)
    Brightness (Synth Effects)

    --------

Now two old popular song standards and two old popular computer game themes.

    AlohaOe
    Pedal Steel (Guitar)
    Octa Rhodes (Piano)
    Taiko (Percussive)
    Natural Picked Bass 2 (Bass)
    G. Org-Flute ouverte 4' (Organ)
    Echo Drops (Synth Effects)
    Rock drum set
    HTTP://webs.lanset.com/jow/AlohaOe.mp3

Oops,  I dropped my tune in the surf.
    Xaphoon (Reed)
Natural Violin 2 (String & Orchestra)
    Natural Cello (String & Orchestra)

    Grand Piano 2 (Piano)
    Bag Pipe (Ethnic)
    English Horn 2 (Reed)
    Natural Bass Clarinet (Reed)
    Tubular Bell (Chromatic percussion)

    Powerful Natural Alto Sax (Reed)
    Natural French Bassoon (Reed)
    Ped-Cor de nuit 2' (Organ)
    Steel Drums (Percussive)
    Ped-Bombarde 16' (Organ)
    Natural Harmonica 2 (Organ)
    Natural Oboe 2 (Reed)
    rock drum set
    HTTP://webs.lanset.com/jow/Grabbag.mp3

Daddy, Daddy I sawed the demon in Doom.
    Clavi Bass (Bass)
    Choir aahs 2 (Ensemble)
    Natural Harmonica 2 (Organ)
    Metal Atmosphere (Synth Effects)
    Overdrive Guitar (Guitar)
    Natural French Bassoon (Reed)
    rock drum set
    HTTP://webs.lanset.com/jow/IsawedTheDemon.mp3

Does anyone have HA rendered samples with the Garritan Personal Orchestra that they could post?  I would love to hear what I am missing.

Do I really need Gold Sound Database?

I am using the GMSEbase sounds.
I have purchased HA a few years ago and recently I added VS, but I wondered  if I really need the Gold 2 sounds, that I have not yet purchased.
Can anyone convince me that it is really worth while?
Do you get a CD sent to you, if you purchase on line?
How does it work. Do you install it and then it takes the place of the old sounds?
Any help would be appreciated. I feel I may be missing  out on something here.
    Thanks.

I recently inquired about Gold sound database.
I have Finale 2006, which comes with a Garritan sound base light, but I haven't figured out how to use this is HA, and I don't know if it is even possible.
It seems that I should be considering Gold sound database after all.
Anyone with any comments to convince me. Is it really all that much better than the default sounds that come with HA?
