This has to do with two scores from 2004. I cannot save either with any rational spacing and the pdf exports are even stranger-looking. A third score for chorus and orchestra (Glee) is nearly as bad. I'm trying to send these two scores (Crossing the Bar and Dover Beach) to a potential choral conductor but am stymied and don't know what to do as they aren't presentable in their present state. A fourth score, "To Life" is okay. The graphic shows the pdf export of the worst part of Crossing the Bar. It's okay in the original score.

I can't remember well.. Are you still working with a Mac OS system or have you switched to Windows (though unlikely). If the original score is OK in HA, there must be something wrong with the .pdf export function. If it were an export under a Windows OS, I would suggest exporting via a virtual printer (PDF Creator, for example)...

| "Bite your tongue!" No Bubu, I'm still on Mac (OS10.6.7). But the original files are not ok except for the one Pepe helped me with. (To Life). "Dover Beach", for example, tends to settle into a one measure per system whatever I do and the spacing in these files is just horrendous. The pdf is even worse. May be some file corruption? I should add that this is the HA score and not the pdf.

| Other things I've had to do was change how I notate rests but I suppose that is just keeping one "honest". But one thing I can't solve is the problem with the Friarly Ghost Glee file. It has to do with measure 7 on the word "three" (correct in the first measure.) which seems to have the word "in" stuck there and nothing I do will dislodge it. I'm not sure whether removing the entire measure and rewriting it will do the trick. but nothing else has helped. Any ideas?

| I tried going into Edit Lyrics, selecting the entire contents, copying and pasting into Notepad, then copying (again) and pasting from Notepad back into the Edit Lyrics dialogue, and that seemed to fix the problem for me.

| I totally forgot about the "edit lyrics" option. Yes, it worked for me too. Many thanks, Steve!

Hello Okay, the problem is already solved, but I'll offer this help anyhow. The easiest way to solve the problem of overlapping text is to adjust the note head position of the second note. In the box that is labeled "Head offset" enter a value between 30 and 60. Sometimes a larger or smaller value is best. The only proof is what works. Note that head offset can also take a negative value, which moves the note to the left rather than to the right. Tom Duda
